About this item

OVERVIEW:
RETRO-MOUSE
Some of us may have to dig reeeeeally deeply into the memory recesses to recall these clicking monsters. Now you can add a touch of digital nostalgia to your computer station with this replica of the 80s clicking-king. Luckily, it’s optical and doesn’t use one of those little trackballs that were always getting stuck. It plugs in with a USB cable and so is PC and Mac compatible. If that isn’t enough retro style for you, it also comes with a mouse pad featuring a print of the ye olde 80s keyboard (no hash key on that bad boy).
The Retro USB Toy Mouse has all the 80s style of the days of big hair, heavy metal, blue eye shadow, and the Revenge of the Nerds, but the insides of a fully functional optical mouse.
Do you miss the era of the Sony Walkman, Back to the Future, Thundercats and Ghostbusters as well as playing NES for the entire summer at your friend’s place?
Do you remember fingerless gloves, parachute pants, Members only jackets and acid wash jeans?
When it comes to fashion and entertainment, trends come and go and come back again. Thankfully for us, clothes, music, movies, and 80s TV shows will always be in style. But when it comes to computer fashion, once things go out, they seem to stay out. Gone are the days of the floppy disk, giant towers, enormous CRTs, loud dot matrix printers and noisy modems.
But if you’re desperate to relive the early days of computer mice, then I have the perfect office companion for you!
It looks like the scientists at ThinkGeek have somehow recreated the DeLorean Time Machine and returned to the 1980s, just to get the idea for this boxy, retro USB Mouse.
It’s compatible with PC or Mac; just as long as you have an available USB port, you can swap it in for your regularly scheduled mouse and sing some Journey while you click around the web. They updated this model by giving it a tethered USB connection instead of ADB or PS/2, an optical sensor instead of one of those balls that you constantly had to clean to get the cat hair out of your mouse, measuring all of 3.66″ x 2.56″ x 1.30″.
Personally, I think the squared-off edges on this 80s dinosaur are clearly about as far off from “ergonomic design” as you can get. Save for course for those ridiculous “puck” mice that came with the original iMac. But nostalgia is a powerful thing, so I get it.
They’ve also given this retro mouse Three Buttons and a Scroll Wheel, which I believe was a 1980s movie with Tom Selleck, Ted Danson, and Steve Guttenberg (that dude from Police Academy), and directed by Spock – Yeah… that actually happened 1987, and you let it happen.
So if you’re one Teddy Ruxpin away from being totally immersed in 80s culture, don’t deprive yourself of this little guy.
